Parish Information

Our parish is not a building of brick and concrete.  Rather, it is a community of believing and loving Christians.  We are the living stones being built into the spiritual house of Jesus Christ described in 1 Peter 2:5.  We stand at the beginning of a new millennium, striving to be a visible and courageous example of Christian faith, hope and love for one another and for the world around us. We look to the Eucharist and the Word of God for our life and enlightenment, and we strive to use our personal gifts and abilities to build the future with others in our parish family.  This is reflected in our Mission Statement:

Inspired by the Spirit of God
We the people of Our Lady of Refuge Parish
declare our primary responsibility
to promote a dynamic Christian Community
reflecting the mission of Jesus by:

Proclaiming God's Word,
in our communal worship and in the
actions of our daily lives
as instruments of peace, reconciliation and service;

Celebrating Christ's presence among us
and in one another
through our joyful participation
in the Sacraments and the Liturgy

Expressing our love for God
by dedicating to Him our time and talents
through our participation in and appreciation for
our parish ministries; and

Advancing the millennium goal of evangelization
by reaching out to our community
and opening wide the doors of our Church
and our hearts to Christ within each person.

We invite you to visit us frequently on this web site, or personally if you come to Long Beach.
