Memoir
I can't say enough how much Fr. Bill blessed our family's life!
Working with the Adult Initiation ministry, he always asked how things were going with the RCIA and would even occasionally drop in unannounced to share some thoughts with our catechumens. I loved how his voice would always get quieter as he wanted to draw us into something important, like the love Jesus has for us - it was magical!
He baptized our oldest daughter during one of the Sunday Masses and it was a wonderful moment. And his being able to watch her grow as she loved to help when we were serving as lectors. He loved seeing her up on the alter before and after Mass, and eventually got to see her become an altar server.
I've been blessed to have a number of conversations with him, both personally and through my ministry, that I will never forget. It was by his invitation that I was able to take the lead in our Adult Initiation ministry because he saw something that perhaps I didn't, and that has lead to so many other blessings in my life. I will miss his joy, insight, and counsel. Even in those times serving as pastor and having to make the tough calls, he tried to lead with love - love of Christ, love of his parishioners. And I never saw someone take on retirement with such well earned grace, enjoying the opportunity to just serve the Lord and the Lord's people.
Thank you for touching our lives! I know Christ will be taking you into his arms.
